You, your family or your company can help the invaluable work of the UWC in educating our future leaders for a better, more understanding, and more peaceful world. It is important that we add to the numbers of scholarships currently available to South African  students.

This year the National Committee short-listed eight exceptional candidates who hailed from across the country, with each exhibiting the UWC’s core values of idealism, engagement, and leadership.

One of those exceptional candidates is Thembumenzi “Rodgers” Chinhangue.  Rodgers is a 16 year student from Kamhlushwa, Mpumalanga where he lives with his parents and four siblings. He is an aspiring Mechatronic engineer, eager to use his favourite subjects- engineering and mathematics- to develop products that support a greener and cleaner future.

Rodger is an exceptional candidate who’s academic excellence has seen him join the Imagine Scholar Programme- a programme that takes the best 10 students from the region for extra tutoring- to building an electric vehicle, and participating in a Yale University sponsored exchange programme to Singapore.  It is our pleasure to report the latest feather in Rodger’s academic cap is his acceptance to the United World College of Diljan on a full academic scholarship.
